New Akron Chapter of the Pajama Program

The Pajama Program, a 501(c)3 charity, provides new pajamas and reading books to needy children, many of whom are waiting and hoping to be adopted. Many of these children have been abused or abandoned and in many cases have never enjoyed the simple comfort of having a loving mother or father tuck them in at bedtime.

The Pajama Program was founded in 2001 by Genevieve Piturro and their headquarters is in New York City. There are many chapters throughout the United States and internationally as well!

Receiving Organizations (and these are defined as being licensed shelters, group homes, orphanages or foster care facilities where children live temporarily) are approved by Genevieve. We are up to thirty one Receiving Organizations and they are: ACCESS, Inc., Amethyst Inc., Battered Women's Shelter, Berea Children's Home & Family Services, Center for Cultural Awareness, Cleveland Christian Home, Community Kids Christmas Program, Cuyahoga County Children Services, Delaware County Children Services, Domestic Violence Center, East Side Catholic Center & Shelter, Family Transitional Housing, Healthy Tomorrows, Hitchcock Center for Women, Isaiah's Place, J.C.'s Place, Laura's Home, Marian's Closet, Ottawa County Transitional Housing, Red Cross, Ruth Anne's House, Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter, Sandusky County Department of Child & Family Services, Spicer Street Good Neighbors, Summit County Children Services, The City Mission, Transitional Housing Inc., Wayne County Children Services, Westhaven Youth Shelter, West Side Catholic Center & Shelter, & the YWCA Battered Women's Shelter.
